There are an estimated 50,000 elephants roaming around this national park and as it was the one creature I was most keen to see but hadn't, I was excited.
It didn't take long. One practically stopped us in our path and walked right out in front of Claudia!
We arrived to the camp site late afternoon, set up our tents in record speed and then raced to the pool to cool off, before sipping an ice cold savannah while we watched yet another amazing sunset! Stop number 11 was in the perfect location, aside from the huge hairy warthogs who clearly ran the campsite and terrorized everyone who stayed there!
The next morning we were up before the crack of dawn for an early morning game drive which I can describe in one word - FREEZING! Julia and I looked like 2 old women huddled under our blankets! After our early morning scout around for animals, we returned to base for a gourmet brunch, prepared by Denford and boy did he pull out the stops!
Finally, we had some 'down time' after a very hectic schedule and spent the afternoon sunbathing beside the pool, watching face plant Phil and Martin doing some spectacularly bad dives into the pool and disturbing the other guests.
As the sunset, we boarded the appropriately named 'sunset cruise' and enjoyed yet more beer in the sun while we spotted hippos, elephants, crocs and giraffe messing around on the river. A particular highlight of this cruise for me was when Remo somehow managed to fall through his chair and managed to wench himself in - it was absolutely hilarious!
